We really did enjoy our time and would like to
stay in contact with Ai and Mami.
I went to the train station to meet Ai and Mami
and I couldn't find them! It turned out that I
was 30 minutes early but what a relief when I
They seemed very nice and excited to meet me,
too. They stayed with my boyfriend, our 3 puppies
for 3 days and 2 nights.
They quickly became best friends with our puppies.
We took the puppies for a walk and a hike. Ai
and Mami feed them food and gave them treats.
They were always together, following the girls
around the house, sitting in their laps, taking
pictures and getting lots of attention.
Ai and Mami were not only friendly with our puppies
but open to the whole experience. They learned
how to play Scattegories and Scrabble, challenging
them to use English. We went on a hike that was
all muddy and they never complained. They ate
Mexican tacos for the first time, ever! They also
watched our favorite show, LOST, and were interested
in what was going on in the program.
During my English lessons with them, they taught
me about their hometown, Nagoya. We discussed
the economic benefits and negative aspects of

the proverbs relate to real life situations. If
at first they didn't succeed, they would try,

Our last lesson was a card game full of questions
that they had to ask each other and answer. I
learned a lot about them, while listening to their
answers and helping them with their grammar and
pronunciation. Teaching is a fair exchange because
you always learn through the experience.
We barbequed together, went shopping and talked
a lot. At first, I thought 3 days is a long time
to spend with people you don't know but when they
were getting ready to leave, I felt like it wasn't
enough time. I guess time fly when you're having
